This is the 5th machine we are going through. Keep buying new ones since they short out after a while. Don't know why this can't be fixed?? The volume knob really seems flimsy. Also agree the seagulls are horrible. The ocean sound is wonderful if they just took out the birds. Use it for both my sons and really like the crispness of the sounds compared to other machines. A couple of flaws that could be easily fixed and it would be a 5 star item for me.

Well, actually, I just got mine. I am so excited. I have a colleague- a fellow health practitioner- who has had one of these( a little different size) for at least 6 years. She told me her parents gave it to her for her treatment room. I have been enjoying in when we trade services and finally the light came on! I ordered one for myself. I hope I don't have any problems with the electrics for some time. I'd probably just buy another one! :-) I will keep my receipt. I think i t's fabulous. Thanks!

I have had this one since it was offered for sale from HoMedics. It's really worth it and I have had no problems with it like other users as they probly abuse the unit as it is made of plastic and microchip for all the sounds. You get what you pay for and I have had mine for two Generations and I get at least 8 hours of sleep the VA couldn't prescrive meds to keep me asleep. This unit works differently for each person. It works perfectly for me, it does the job it was designed to do so I suggest these people that write these reviews stop writing reviews. They need to research the product first on the internet before they Buy the product. I had to write because after reading these bad reviews I had to speak out because there cuting down a product I have trusted for two generations for relaxing

we recently bought one of these to take on trips with us. our sons (2.5 and 8m) sleep with fans at home, and it's perfect for helping everyone sleep a little better when quarters are close. i'm not giving it 5 stars because it switched off on me randomly once, but i did just buy a second one, so that probably says just as much!

I absolutely love this machine for myself. I am an adult and have a hard time putting my mind at rest at night time until I hear the peaceful sounds of the machine. I do some deep breathing and take in the sounds and before I know it it's morning. The only reason I give it a 4 instead of a 5 is the seagulls like a previous reviewer stated-they drove me crazy the first night! I had to turn that sound off immediately. I think the rain sounds are my favorite.

I asked for this for Christmas last year and Iove it, easy to use, lightweight and compact. I live with my family and my mother is a night owl who is forever doing housework and making a racket, at what I like to call daft o clock - when I'm trying to go to sleep for work the next day. I particularily like the rain and waterfall sounds. My only criticism would be the seagull noise on the ocean sound - i find them very distracting. Please get rid of the annoying birds and the product would defo be 5 stars in my eyes!

I bought this machine to use at work ... now I can get an easy 6 to 7 hours of sleep at work each day without the phone or the boss bothering me. When I get home ... I get right back on it and another 8 hours of blissful sleep is there.

After about 6 months of use, the machine simply doesn't work anymore. I've contacted Homedics about it and am awaiting their response back. It was a great price, and did a good job while it lasted, but given it only worked for 6 months, I have to rate it a 1 star.

This product is a great price for the quality. After 1 week the machine started shorting out. Our son will NOT sleep without white noise sounds. We have called Homedics and they will send us a replacement but not until they receive our machine.

We've had ours for about 7 years! It is just now finally going on/off randomly. We no longer have the ocean sound but use the rainstorm.

We take it when we travel, especially if we stay at hotels next to an interstate or a friend's house in the mountain silence.

We're going to buy another one. $20 for 7 years is a great bargain.

We use it every night, all night long. And sleep like babies.

Works great for helping my son sleep.. but having the shorting out problem as well now. It just stops and starts randomly. Sometimes you have to push in on the knob for it to come on. He's 7 months and we've been using it nightly since he was probably 2 months old so can't complain too much at only $20.

I was given this sound machine as a gift when I had my son to help him sleep. It worked great at first, but started shorting out after about 9 or 10 months. He can't sleep without it (literally) so we bought another one. After one or two months of using the new machine it's now shorting out!! It just stops making sound completely, then starts again on it's own. I don't know if it's just cheaply made, or I just have bad luck:) I suggest if you buy this procuct ....keep your receipt!!

We bought this product for our son when he was about 7months old. (over a year and a half ago) We had nothing but problems with him and sleep, but this did the trick. We don't use the timer as he sleeps better if it is on all night. We started having problems with our 3 month old daughter about a month ago with sleep and I wasted no time and ran right down and bought another one. She sleeps amazing during the night....still working on naps though.

I bought one of these when I had my son and it worked so well, I bought another when I had my daughter. They are both toddlers now and we still use them. Small and light for traveling as well. We use the waterfall setting and it completely blocks out the rest of the sounds in the house to help them sleep better. Definitely recommend!

Love this product so far, just bought it today and already used it to put my nephew down for his nap. He was out in less than 10 mins! (Usually takes 30-45) I think it's well worth the 20 bucks. Love it!!

I love this machine - my dd has trouble with subconcious wakefulness during the night and when she was young we'd put in nature sound CD's - we could not find anything like this anywhere - so it is so nice to have this compact and portable machine all in one for home or travel!!!! We like it so much we are getting another for her for Christmas!
